PE & Sports Premium
Stourfield Junior School’s vision is that all children should receive high quality Physical Education (PE) from raising standards in teaching and learning as well as have access to an outstanding range of extra-curricular sport and physical activity opportunities.
Stourfield Junior School shares the government’s vision for the Primary PE and Sport Premium:
ALL pupils leaving primary school physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy, active lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.
Schools have received an additional £16,000 [plus £10 per pupil between the ages of 5-11 years old] to improve the quality of sport and PE for all their children. This funding is continuing for 2023/24 and 2024/25. The funding has been provided to ensure impact against the following objective: "To achieve self-sustaining improvement in the quality of PE and sport in primary schools".
It is expected that schools will see an improvement against the following 5 key indicators:
- increasing confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sporting activities
- increasing engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity and sporting activities
- raising the profile of PE and sport across the school, to support whole school improvement
- offer a broader and more equal experience of a range of sports and physical activities to all pupils
- increasing participation in competitive sport
